Back Pain Medication

Your doctor can help get you painkillers, but popping pills is not all there is to effective back pain treatment.

Medication does not address many of the core issues as to why you are experiencing back pain in the first place. For example, if you have spinal arthritis, you’ve discovered how difficult it is to move your joints, especially first thing in the morning.

Pain medication can help spinal arthritis, but it does not help keep the joints supple and mobile. For that you need consistent, gentle exercise.

If you have problems maintaining your balance, then you may need to have exercises that concentrate on keeping your body from falling.

Not just any old exercise will do. A physical therapist will know the best exercises to help promote balance or whatever you need for your specific back condition.

Pain medication side effects

Pain medication also comes with many side effects. For example, the humble aspirin is not only an effective painkiller, it can also cause ulcers when taken in large doses or for long periods of time.

Using other forms of treatment, like acupuncture or a physical therapy, can save you from reaching for the painkillers less often. This will also spare you from bad side effects medication can cause.
